Festive fundraiser for the local Community
Dear local residents,
As most of you are aware each year the 4th Ashby Scout Group runs a Christmas Post. This has been running for more than 30 years and is the main fundraiser for the year for all sections of the group – Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts. It is only 25p per card, compared to 55p for a Royal Mail 2nd class stamp, and it is easy to use.
The Christmas Post is entirely run by volunteers and works as follows:
Scout Post Stamps can be purchased from, and cards posted at, the Collector Stations from the 1st December, 2016. The stations are at Card Cottage, Tourist Information Centre, Abbey Stores, Ashby Carpets and Daybreak Services in Packington.
At our collector stations you can buy your stamps and post your cards at the same time, buy stamps and drop your cards off later when it suits you, or just make a donation should you choose to do so.
Stamps can also be purchased from the Scout stand outside the Co-op Superstore on Derby Road on Saturday 10th and 17th December from 9am-2pm
The cards that are collected on the 10th and 17th December are taken to the scout hut where they are sorted in to rounds, ready for delivery. The cards are delivered to our delivery team Saturday night and start to be delivered on the Sunday (11th onwards, and the 18th onwards).
Our delivery team is made up of Scout group members, their families, leaders, committee members and even ex-members and friends. To these supporters we owe a huge debt and thanks, as the Christmas post cannot run without their help and support.
We hope you will choose to support this fantastic service as Scouting offers our children a huge variety of life opportunities and it is where you make friends for life.
