Beavers

Our Beaver Colony is for boys and girls aged 6-8.

We have a maximum of 24 children at a time and due to popularity we have a waiting list. You can add your child’s name to this list via our contact page.

We meet at the BP Shell Scout Centre on a Thursday between 5.15 and 6.30, although in the summer term (Easter - July) we meet at Willesley Campsite between 6.00 and 7.15.

Our team of volunteer leaders stepped in when the long serving Beaver Leaders retired last September. We are always looking for help from adults, all of whom are CRB checked and who must complete the Scout Association’s award winning training programme.

Presently the leadership consists of:

  • Giraffe: Chris Jameson (Young Leader (and boss!))
  • Rabbit: Katie Hawkins
  • Mole: John Leake (Scout Fellowship, assists with Cubs too)
  • Snake: Andrew “Ernie” Haigh (also Assistant Scout Leader)
  • Gorilla: Bryan Nevin (also Scout Leader)
  • Fox: Tom Bagley (Scout undertaking service)
  • Hare: Matt Hair (Scout undertaking service)
  • Bear: Jonathan Bloor (Group Scout Leader).

Parents with specific skills or hobbies are encouraged to give a little time to share this with the children. In the coming weeks we have someone who works with animals helping to complete a badge and a textiles teacher helping the children to tie-dye T-shirts.
