Meeting Times

Transition between section

When the young people are old enough to transition between the sections the leader speak to the section above about how many young people need to move and when this can happen. They will also complete the Moving On Award (see badges on www.scouts.org.uk)

Waiting List

There is a waiting list on Online Scout Manager which shows how many young people are waiting to join and which section they are for.

Programme

Each section plans its own programme based on the Beaver, Cub and Scout Challenge and Activity Badges. It is recorded on Online Scout Manager (www.onlinescoutmanager.co.uk). This is also where registers and personal details are logged allowing leaders to send out emails to their section about dates of meetings etc. It also records which Beaver, Cub or Scout has earned and received which badges leading to their Bronze, Silver or Gold Award.

Badges & Uniform

For each Section Leader the group will provide: Uniform shirt/blouse, trousers or skirt and belt. Group Polo shirt and hoodie

For each Section Helper the group will provide: Group polo shirt and hoodie

Badges/neckers and certificates are organised through the badge secretary and stocks should not held by sections.

Finance

Debbie Crumley is the group’s treasurer. If you have made a purchase for your section, for example, a resource needed for your evening, you will need to complete a form with the attached receipts in order to reclaim the money. Keys are held by 2 members of each section.

Group Events

There are several group events in 4th Ashby’s calendar where every section gets together. These are the firework display in November, Christmas Post in December, Family Camp and the AGM in the Summer Term.

In order for these events to be successful we need the help of leaders from each section, the executive committee and parents. These are always really successful events and helps to link the group and raise much needed funds. As each year the group’s needs change and therefore extra events may be put on, if you have any ideas for any then please speak to either Jon or Alex.

Leaders Meetings

Leaders meetings are essential to keeping the group as one and helping lines of communication. These are only an hour long and take place in the pub every couple of months. Meeting dates are decided at the previous meeting and sent out to leaders via email. If you have anything for the agenda please just let Jon or Alex know.

Training

Each leader is required to do some training from the leaders training manual, the Adults Personal File (http://members.scouts.org.uk/learnersresources). Depending on your position in Scouting will depend on what modules you will have to cover. However everyone has to have some training on safeguarding. As a group we also have a safeguarding policy, please familiarise yourself with the attached one. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to either Jon or Alex.
