Tue 3rd Sep (6:00pm - 7:30pm) Membership Badge and Fire Safe Welcome back to Cubs after our summer break.
We will work towards our membership badge, introduce the Cubs to the new team members, and organise our pack into sixes. We will also practise our fire drill and discuss fire safety in the hut. We will play icebreaker games to help the pack learn each other's names. |
Tue 10th Sep (6:00pm - 7:30pm) World: Aquabox @ DSC Sylvia will visit us from a local Rotary group. Syliva will be running a workshop all about the Aquabox and teaching the Cubs about the world around them. |
Tue 17th Sep (6:00pm - 7:30pm) Musician: Junk Instruments @ D We will be making junk musical instruments and learning a song to sing and dance along to. At the end, we will try to use our musical instruments to play a song.
Please can cubs collect and bring in: - Toilet roll inner - Tin cans - 500ml pop bottles |
Tue 24th Sep (6:00pm - 7:30pm) Musician: 1st Ibstock Band @ D The 1st Ibstock Scout Band will visit us. They will teach Cubs to play percussion, brass and string instruments. We will then use what the Cubs have learnt to play a song together.

Beavers and Cubs will be sleeping indoors in the cabin. Scouts will be outside sharing tents in groups.
Saturday 28th - Drop Off:
- 09:45 - 10:00 - Campers whose driver has surname A-L to arrive
- 10:00 - 10:15 - Campers whose driver has surname M-Z to arrive.
Sunday 29th - Pick Up:
- 13:30 - 13:45 Campers whose driver has surname A-L to arrive
- 13:45 - 14:00 Campers whose driver has surname M-Z to arrive.
Arrive in uniform, with group necker. Bring packed lunch for Saturday.
All cooking will be carried out by onsite leaders, including Saturday dinner, breakfast, and packed lunch on Sunday.
Activities include:
- Beavers – Bouldering, Orienteering, Soft Archery and a group campfire.
- Cubs – Archery, Fire Lighting, Orienteering and a group campfire.
- Scouts – Air Rifles, Rubber Band Alley, a Team Challenge and a group campfire.

Tue 1st Oct (6:00pm - 7:30pm) Chef: Safety and Hygiene, Sush Cubs will be learning how to keep safe when cooking, learning good hygiene to handle food and learning to make sushi. |
Sat 5th Oct (9:00am - 4:00pm) Visit to Calke Abbey Where: Calke Abbey Visit to Calke Abbey including nature walk, games in the park and a tour of the house, church and gardens.
Drop off and pick up - Staunton Harold reservoir car park, Main Street, Calke, LE65 1RR (see attached map)
Time - 09:00 to 16:00
Cubs/Beavers will need to wear their Necker and bring with them a pack lunch and a small rucksack to carry this in.

Tue 15th Oct (5:30pm - 7:00pm) Fire Safety: Ashby Fire Statio During this meet we will visit Ashby Fire Station to learn about the appliances, fire safety within the home and how to call 999 in an emergency. Cubs will go for a short walk after the fire station to look at local landmarks.
Please wear study shoes, and bring a warm winter coat as we will be outside for the meet.
Drop off at Ashby Fire Station for 17:30. Collect from Ashby Fire Station at 19:00 PLEASE NOTE THE DIFFERENT MEET TIMES.
The firefights are on active duty during our visit, so there might be a chance they have to attend a emergency during our visit. If this happens we will take the Cubs around Ashby High Street on a local knowledge activity. |

Tue 29th Oct (6:00pm - 7:30pm) Hike: Halloween Night Walk @ C We will go on a night walk starting at Conkers Waterside and finishing at DSC. Cubs are encouraged to come dressed up in their creepiest Halloween outfits. Can they please also wrap up warm in a coat, wear sturdy footwear through uneven ground, and bring a torch? |
Tue 5th Nov (6:00pm - 7:30pm) No Meet- AGM Week More details to follow; we will be holding a group AGM celebration on either the 5th or 7th of November. |
Tue 12th Nov (6:00pm - 7:30pm) World: The Post Office in the Peter Armitage MBE, a community volunteer at the post office, will join us. He will be giving a talk about his experiences of the 2nd World War and the post office's involvement, as well as allowing Cubs to look at war items and dress up in old war uniforms. |
Tue 19th Nov (6:00pm - 7:30pm) Chef: Food Groups and Mug Cake We will continue our chef badge and discuss major food groups, a balanced diet and how our digestive system works. We will also make a mug cake for Cubs to enjoy!
Can all Cubs bring one mug that can safely be microwaved (no plastic or metal mugs)? They will also need a carrier bag to transport the mug. Please ensure both items are named. |
Tue 26th Nov (6:00pm - 7:30pm) DIY: Materials, Tools and Des Cubs will learn about materials and tools and design a special Christmas present project for every Cub to wrap up for a Christmas Present! |
Tue 3rd Dec (6:00pm - 7:30pm) DIY: Design, Make and Wrap @ We will continue to make our Christmas present project for every Cub to wrap up for a present! In addition, they will be making a self-portrait keyring and Christmas card. |
Tue 10th Dec (6:00pm - 7:30pm) Community: Carol Singing @ DSC We visit a local care home every year to bring the residents joy through carol singing. We will also be colouring and offering mince pies for all to enjoy! More details will follow later in the term. |
